We celebrated the 78th Independence Day on 15th of August 2024 at the Centre. It included 18 guests with staff and Chief Guest who was Ms. Vijaya Mahankar.The celebration included Flag hoisting, motivational speech by our Chief Guest Ms. Vijaya who saw this Centre’s long road of creating hope by empowering Women and educating children by the four building blocks Educate, Enable, Facilitate and Intervening right from Sr.
We celebrated महाराष्ट्र उगम घरकामगार संघटना दिवस at H.O.P.E. The attendees were around 120.The agenda of the Union day included a Medical Camp where Desai Eye Institute Team did a Eye Test and The Diagnopein Pathology did the Blood Test and also Dentist was there too.It was followed by Lunch. Then our inhouse expert on various Government Schemes Mr. Hrishikesh Khogare gave a presentation on the same to the Union attendees.
We celebrated Environment Day at HOPE Centre. The attendees included 36 Women from HOPE Centre & Guests from YWCA and 7 Staff. We had a session by Simarpreet Luthra where he explained the importance and means of keeping the surroundings clean. Also we had a cleanliness drive and planted and distributed nearly 40 plants. Children also participated in the clenliness drive.Women from HOPE Centre made articles from waste items into useful items, with the motto., “RECYCLING ROCKS”.
On 22nd of June 2024 at H.O.P.E. Centre we celebrated The International Yoga Day where a crowd of at least 32 women gathered to take a pledge on doing yoga and also did some asana of yoga which was followed by some snacks.
A few volunteering activities were conducted by Roshan, Jason and Sylvia for laborers’ children from 24th May to 3rd June 2024. During the duration of this period the children were presented with fun activities such as puzzles, Carrom, Snakes and Ladders, and Cricket.One day was also fully assigned to Arts and Crafts where the children were provided with the opportunity to draw whatever they wanted which helped build their creativity.The following day was when the children played Cricket.
2024 is a very special year for HOPE: The NGO that was founded in 1974 celebrates its 50th anniversary. To commemorate this major milestone in its history, HOPE had invited more than 700 supporters, benefactors, staff, beneficiaries, and friends to the official Jubilee celebration on 16 March, 2024. Chief Guest was Rt. Rev. John Rodrigues, Bishop of Poona.
Workers on construction sites were especially hard hit by the Corona pandemic. With several initiatives, HOPE supported this vulnerable part of the population.
