Self Help Groups

H.O.P.E. supports the formation of Self-Help Groups to further enhance the empowerment of women. Each group consists of 20 women, who share their knowledge and give advice and support to each other.  There are monthly meetings, in which social awareness and cultural, social, political, health and ecological issues are taken up and crisis situations are solved.

To enhance the economic upward mobility, they have a shared bank account and manage their own investments that are contributed monthly by each woman. The members can avail of loans at 2% interest per month, thus they are freed from the clutches of the moneylenders. They can also take loans for productive activities either individual or in the group. The saved money is mainly used to invest into the education of their children.
