40 Years of H.O.P.E. Celebration - Awakening

H.O.P.E. 1974 to 2014

On 8th March, 2014, H.O.P.E. completed 40 years. Founded in 1974 by Sr. Noelline Pinto in Vadgaon Sheri, H.O.P.E. now can look back to 40 years of humanitarian service to poor and marginalized women, children, and families.

Under the motto Awakening the event was celebrated with a cultural programme. In a panorama of songs, skits, dances and presentations the past 3 decades of its achievements and the 10 years of its current activities were displayed. A manifesto by Noelline Pinto, the founder and chair person, and Flory Menezes, Director, the future plans, vision and mission, were declared. The State Minister of Education Mrs Fauzia Khan was the Chief Guest. In her eloquent, warm and touching speech she said: "There are many Government programmes held today, but this one was important for me. Sr.Noelline was my mentor and shaped my life with her love and commitment (...) HOPE’s work is small compared to Government Projects, but there is a difference- here there is commitment and dedication." The other honoured guests were the Bishop of Poona, Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Dabre and Sr. CarolineFernandes, The Provincial of the Sisters of the Cross of Chavanod.

The curtain was brought down with HOPE anthem, the release of 40 balloons and a fellowship meal.
